From Growing Food to Growing Minds

The Garden Centre makes all the difference

The Garden Centre remains the cornerstone of the Renwick Empire fifty years into innovation, diversity and growth, beginning with a few seeds in 1965. Today the centre caters to garden variety the world over, impacting the creative sides of consumers and employees alike.

Business Focus sat down with Decosta Pierre – Divisional Manager for the Garden Centre and one of the many dedicated Renwick team leaders with a passion for growing wholesome, nutritious food.

At the helm of this prised division of Renwick, Pierre boasts of the division’s commitment and focus on strong customer relations that have the potential to – and in some cases has – evolve into lifelong friendships.

Some of these relationships have evolved into partnerships that span decades as in the case of Christopher Cox – a farmer extraordinaire from Vanard Millet, Marigot, who runs a large and fairly diverse farm producing bananas, plantains, sweet potatoes, hot peppers watermelons, and butternut squash to supermarket chains.

His 40-year partnership with Renwick has allowed him to not only diversify his production portfolio on land, but also test the limits and venture into the aqua farming of tilapia and shrimp – all with the confidence that all the necessary products and services will be catered to.

“I’ve had a great relationship with Renwick even in the midst of some mild trials. It is worth every penny doing business with them – I never have reason to question the quality of what delivered,” Cox said, citing also the reliability and invaluable advice provided by the team at the Garden Centre’s extension service. This is an arm of Renwick dedicated to the education of the farming and general agriculture community in traditional and evolving best practices that would guarantee their success.
